Varney Speedway Motorplex MOVES TO TRANSPONDERS

As everyone who attended the rules meeting back in December knows, Varney Speedway is making the move to transponders in 2009 in all classes except Trains and Vans.  The purchasing and upkeep of the transponders will be the sole responsibility of the drivers.  For anyone who just attends Varney for invitational races, we will have transponders on site for you to rent.  If you are a driver from Barrie Speedway your home track transponder will ( should ) work with the system we are installing.

For anyone who did not attend the meeting and wishes to know more about the transponders and the supplier we have chosen, I would ask that you view the PowerPoint presentation that is in this file as it should answer a lot of your questions.

In order to lessen the impact on drivers, Varney Speedway will be “bulk buying” the transponders and passing these savings along to the drivers.  Also we are setting up a payment plan which will allow drivers to pay a small amount each month from now until the start of the race season when full payment will be required before you take ownership of your transponder.  Please see the advance payment form also in this file.

The placement of the transponders will be overseen by track staff to ensure everyone’s transponder is placed in the same location this is so all cars will be scored correctly as they cross the start / finish line.  Please see the “General Track Rules” for how we plan on dealing with those drivers who wish to “play around” with the placement of the transponders.

The move to transponders shows a tremendous step forward for Varney Speedway as we strive to be as professional as we can possibly be and also providing the drivers who choose to race with us the fairest possible experience they can have at any track in the province.
